In the mail, I received an Open Call Invitation from a pageant system called National American Miss. I was interested, and so I went to the Open Call today. It was at a Hyatt Regency in Reston, VA, about 45 minutes away from my house. I pre-registered, like the letter said, and we met in the ballroom, and about 100 girls who received Open Call Invitations were there. They gave me an interview, also. Basically, it was an information meeting for those who were interested. We received at lot of helpful information. They also handed out a magazine, and a sheet of paper telling what would happen in the future, and a DVD about the experience.
National American Miss is a pageant system that believes confidence comes before looks. It costs about $500 to register, and formal ball gown and business suit needs to be bought separately. My parents and I will talk about wether this is a good idea or not, because you have to be in the NAM system until you turn an adult, which is a long time. So we'll work it out.
